EOTech HWS 552.A65 — Night Vision Compatible Holographic Weapon Sight
Overview
The EOTech HWS 552.A65 is the most popular night-vision-compatible holographic weapon sight in the world — the combat-proven military version of the acclaimed 512, adopted by US special operations and deployed in combat by the 10th Mountain Division, the 3rd Infantry Division, and the Stryker Brigade. A true operational standard combining cost-effective dual AA battery power, the proven ergonomics of the long-format housing, and full compatibility with Gen I through Gen III night-vision equipment.
The legendary 68 MOA / 1 MOA reticle (large enclosure ring + precision center dot) is the reference design for fast target acquisition in dynamic and CQB shooting. Unlike the 512, the 552 features dedicated NV modes — 10 additional brightness levels calibrated to avoid saturating night-vision goggles or monoculars, alongside 20 standard daylight settings. The reinforced housing is submersible to 10 m (versus 3 m for the 512), a genuine duty-grade upgrade.
The 552.A65 is the default choice for any civilian shooter equipped (or planning to equip) with an NV system, as well as for professionals and instructors using night-vision simulators or equipment in training.

Key Benefits
- Gen I-III night-vision compatibility: the 552's true differentiator — 10 additional brightness levels calibrated specifically to avoid saturating NV goggles (PVS-14, PVS-31, DTNVG, etc.). Dual day/night use without readjustment.
- Combat-proven military reputation: adopted and deployed in combat by the 10th Mountain Division, 3rd Infantry Division, and Stryker Brigade — an operational pedigree unmatched in the civilian holographic segment.
- Legendary 68 MOA / 1 MOA reticle: the large enclosure ring captures the target in a fraction of a second, the 1 MOA dot ensures precision out to 300 m — a design proven over decades of use.
- Universal AA power: batteries available worldwide at minimal cost, no dependence on CR123. Ideal for intensive professional use or extended expeditions.
- 10 m waterproofing: submersible to 33 ft — 3x better than the 512 (3 m). Duty-grade ruggedness validated for harsh environments.
- Unlimited eye relief + parallax-free: both eyes open, shoot at maximum speed with no head repositioning — essential for dynamic and CQB shooting.
- Multi-rail compatibility: both Weaver 1" AND Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 — fits nearly every modern tactical platform.
- CNC-machined anodized aluminum housing: military-grade materials and finishes for long-term durability.
- HWS holographic technology: optical reconstruction of the reticle in the field of view (not a standard LED projection) — ultra-fast acquisition, perfect overlay on moving targets.
Use Cases & Context
- Dedicated NV / low-light configuration: the only logical choice for a civilian shooter equipped with night-vision goggles or monoculars (PVS-14, PVS-31, DTNVG, ANVIS).
- Dynamic sport shooting: IPSC/USPSA rifle, 3-Gun, PCC competition — the 552 works perfectly in day mode, with the added benefit of future NV compatibility if the shooter equips.
- Tactical shooting and CQB: the 68/1 format is optimized for fast multi-target engagement at close and mid range.
- Professional training: LEO, security agencies, tactical schools with NV simulation equipment — a field-proven optic.
- Mounting on AR-15, AR-10, 9mm PCC, .22 LR carbine, tactical shotgun: full versatility thanks to the universal Picatinny/Weaver rail.
- Authorized night hunting: in cantons and legal contexts permitting NV use for wildlife management (fox, wild boar per cantonal hunting plan).
- Modern military collection: a cult piece of the GWOT (Global War on Terror), present on most US operational configurations from 2005-2015.
